Awareness Project
“FEED NEW YORK!”
Agriculture, New York State’s #1
industry! The NYSAAF Agricultural Awareness program provides support to the
local County Fairs to showcase New York’s best in agriculture and livestock.
Each year the program goal is to
make funds available to Fairs to create exhibits or facility improvements that
support agriculture during their annual events. These funds enable the local
Fair to present something about New York agriculture with an emphasis on
education and product promotion in the local area. With the support of the
local farmers we can all help to “FEED NEW YORK!”

participates are:
Cayuga County Fair,
Weedsport, NY, June 28 – 30, the featured
agricultural product will be Yogurt, wish is helping to “FEED NEW YORK!”
Highlighting the exhibit will be digital audio-visual presentation that will
show the process of producing yogurt from grains, cows, milk and finally yogurt
production. Stop by and see how Cayuga County is helping support the local
agricultural industry.
Madison
County Fair, Brookfield, NY, July 11 – 14, The FFA
will be presenting informational displays and interactive seminars on various
New York State Products. In addition yogurt and livestock presentation will be
featured.
Lewis
County Fair, Lowville, NY, July 16 – 20, learn more
about eggs from a talking Chicken. Don’t miss this new addition to the Lewis
County Fair Barnyard. I’m sure this chicken will be the “talk” of the Fair. Egg
production helps to “FEED NEW YORK!”
Clinton County Fair, Morrisonville,
NY, July 16 - 21, The establishment of the “Clinton
County Agriculture Awareness Tent” will spotlight the various agricultural
enterprises in the area. This will be an interactive display along with a
questions/answer format utilizing farmers, 4-H Members, FFA members, as well as
business professionals. Be sure to visit the exhibit while at the Fair and
learn how you too can help to “FEED NEW YORK!”
Saratoga
County Fair, Ballston Spa, NY, July 16 – 21, set
amongst the Adirondack Mountains, the new “Ranger Cabin” at the Fair, will
feature information with regard to the logging industry. Indeed, forestry is an
important part of the agricultural legacy of New York State. Enjoy your visit
to the Fair and learn more about logging in this picturesque region
Boonville
Fair, Boonville, NY, July 22 – 28, will
feature and upgraded lower grandstand area for educational exhibits that related
to agriculture in the region. Plans are to spruce up the area. Be sure to stop
by and visit and learn more of what this region of New York State has to offer.
Chautauqua
County Fair, Dunkirk, NY, July 22 – 28, done in
conjunction with Cooperative Extension and Chautauqua County Soil & Water
Conservation District. Educational signs will be posted in the 8 barns and the
Agricultural Museum about the variety of species present. Look for these new
and exciting facts about Chautauqua County.
Chemung County Fair, Horseheads, NY,
July 30 – August 4, A “Community Garden” Project,
in cooperation with Extension, this will feature 4 “Pizza Gardens” that will
“FEED NEW YORK!” These raised bed gardens will be planted in May by school
children during their Old MacDonald Farm/Farm City event. This will be a great
community project that will be a benefit to all in the area.
Gouverneur
& St. Lawrence County Fair, Gouverneur, NY, July 30 – August 4,
will be host to tours of the dairy barn to promote the industry. Guest will
have the experience of witnessing first hand the process of milking cows in a
modern parlor and learning of the by-products these animals offer to the world.
Ulster
County Fair, New Paltz, NY, July 30 – August 4, the
horse show facilities at the Ulster County Fair will get a facelift this year.
New rails and upgraded footing will provide exhibitors with a shiny new show
grounds to exhibit their horses.
No matter where your travels take
you in New York, you will find a County Fair that will peak your interest. Be
sure to stop by and visit one of the 52 Fairs in New York they will provide you
with a great family experience. Surely, they will provide you some insight into
where your family’s food comes from, how it is grown, harvested and marketed to
the public. As people of this great State, we are proud to help
